Filbert - Cosford

from £45.00

Description:Cosford is one of the most popular Filbert variety, slightly larger than the Cobnut with a long husk or full beard. Produces attractive nuts that have a thin shell and good flavour. The nuts can be eaten when green, or stored throughout the winter. An excellent pollinator for other varieties. Beautiful bright yellow catkins appear in the winter.

History:Originated 1816 around Ipswich.

Filbert Growing Tips:Prefer to be planted in full sun or light shade with a sheltered position with no frost pockets. Will tolerate many soil types but are happier in light, sandy, well-drained soils. Make sure you harvest your crop before the squirrels get to them!
