Parentage:Oullins Green Gage x Early Favourite

Description:Opal is a very reliable and good quality plum. Produces heavy crops of reddish-purple firm, round, tasty fruits. Flesh is golden yellow, flavour is delicious, slightly sweet. Stone seperates nicely from the flesh, freestone. Known as the early Victoria. The tree itself is upright in habit making a neat pyramid shaped tree. White, scented flowers appear during the spring. One of the most reliable plum varieties for any garden.

History:Raised at the Horticultural Research Station, Alnarp, Sweden in 1925. Recieved an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society in 1995.
